About Phil Haber

I am a photographer located in Cold Spring, New York. My principal subjects are landscapes, as well as birds and other wildlife. I travel frequently and have photographed both locally, in the Hudson Valley and New York City, and in many other locations in the United States, as well as in France, Italy, Spain, England, Ireland, Scotland, Canada, Austria, the Czech Republic, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. My interest in landscape photography grew out of my travels and a desire to create a permanent record of the many remarkable sights I have encountered. I am constantly in search of a viewpoint that delivers an interesting composition, perspective that creates an illusion of depth in a two-dimensional image, and lighting conditions, whether during daylight hours or at night, that enhance the beauty of the subject.

My photos have appeared in many solo and group exhibitions in the New York metropolitan area, including recent exhibitions at the Blue Door Art Center in Yonkers (“Flights of Fancy,” June 2017), the office of Robert A. McCaffrey in Cold Spring (“Two Medieval European Towns,” June 2017), Sam’s of Gedney Way, White Plains (“Away From Home,” November 2016 – March 2017), the National Lighthouse Museum, Staten Island (Annual Photography Exhibition, 2016), the Marina Gallery in Cold Spring (“Local Colors,” July 2014), at the RiverWinds Gallery in Beacon (“Celebrating Summer,” August 2014), at Wells Fargo Advisors in Rhinebeck (“Tranquility” and “Along the Hudson,” both juried by the RiverWinds Gallery in 2013), at the Schoolhouse Theater in Croton Falls (“Bridge: Verb or Noun?,” June 2014), at the Arc Stages Theater in Pleasantville (May 2013 through April 2014), and at the Rye Arts Center in Rye (November 2013). My work has been featured in print or on the web by Architectural Digest, Manhattan Magazine, Lonely Planet guides, the Maine Office of Tourism, the Columbia County, New York Office of Tourism, and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, among others. My photograph “The Royal Mile, Edinburgh, at Sunrise” won a photo competition sponsored by Ilford Imaging and was the subject of an article in the Ilford blog. I maintain an illustrated blog on photography, art and travel, at Phil Haber’s Photography Notes, and a Facebook site. I am also a contributing photographer of Getty Images.
