About Steve Dreyer

I am passionate about everything photography and image-making. It provides me with an outlet for being creative, for learning, and for communicating with others.

I started, like many photographers, with film and a darkroom. It was very rewarding to be out with my camera, to compose my images, and see them come to life. While I have been using digital cameras and techniques for over fifteen years, I believe it is the composed image and not the technology that is most important. I am inspired and find motivation in the work of photographers such as Steve McCurry, Ansel Adams, Edward Weston and others.

My images tend to fall into three main categories – landscapes, street photography, and abstracts. I love both color and black and white. I am interested in photographing locations and cultures in the U.S., Europe, Asia, South America and wherever my travels take me. And I try to view everyday scenes in different ways and use different techniques to express my vision.

My work has been represented by fine art galleries and is regularly on display in group shows and juried exhibits, including ArtsWestchester, the Riverwinds Gallery, the Yonkers Riverfront Gallery, The International Center of Photography, and Guild Hall in East Hampton, New York. I am hopeful that my images, my writing in magazines (including Photo Technique), my workshops, eBooks and Folios will motivate others to enjoy photography as an art form and to make their own great images.
